Frequently asked questions
What can I expect in my first session?
The first session is an intake session that lasts 60 minutes and is a chance for us to get to know each other. I’ll ask about what brought you to counseling, your goals, and any concerns you have. Together, we’ll discuss what you hope to achieve and start setting goals for your therapy.
How long are sessions, and how often will we meet?
Sessions are typically 45 minutes long. Most clients begin with weekly appointments, but this can be adjusted depending on your needs and goals.
Do you accept insurance?
I am not accepting insurance at this time. This choice allows me to offer more flexible, individualized care without the restrictions insurance can place on session frequency, length, or treatment approach. It also helps protect your privacy, as no diagnosis or records are shared with a third party.
If you have out-of-network benefits, I’m happy to provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. I also offer sliding scale options to help make counseling more affordable and accessible based on your individual financial situation.
How do I pay for my session?
Payment is typically due after the session and is conveniently processed through SimplePractice, a secure online platform. I am able to accept cash, check, credit, debit, and FSA/HSA cards. If you have any questions about fees or payment, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
