Mental Health Awareness - Counseling
Counseling is one of the most effective tools for improving mental health, largely because of the strong therapeutic relationship built between the client and counselor. Research highlights three key reasons therapy works: trust within the therapeutic relationship, positive expectations about the counseling process, and the healthier actions clients take as a result of therapy. A safe and trusting counseling environment helps regulate the nervous system, encourages healing, and often improves relationships outside of therapy as well. Ultimately, counseling empowers individuals to make meaningful life changes that support better mental health and overall well-being.
Mental Health Awareness - Yoga
Yoga is my favorite exercise, coping skill, and mindfulness activity because it combines multiple benefits into one practice. It strengthens the body, encourages mindful breathing, supports nervous system regulation, and builds resilience through present-moment awareness. Overall, yoga is a powerful strategy for maintaining both current and long-term mental health.
Mental Health Awareness - Sleep
Sleep and mental health are deeply connected, and when one is off, the other often follows. Poor sleep can impact your mood, focus, and relationships, while stress and anxiety can make it difficult to truly rest. Developing a consistent nighttime routine can help your mind and body transition into a calmer, more restful state. With the right tools and support, improving your sleep can be a powerful step toward better overall well-being.
Sexual Assault Awareness
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. A time to recognize how deeply sexual violence has impacted our communities, whether through our own experiences or those of people we care about. Nearly half of all women and more than one in six men report experiencing sexual violence in their lifetime, and these numbers only reflect what has been disclosed. If you or someone you love is struggling to process sexual trauma, support is available. You are not alone. Your story matters. I believe you.
